Wicked problems don't always have to stay wicked

Cage the Elephant couldn't have put it any better. This problem won't fix itself, it'll only keep getting more wicked if we don't do something to solve it now!

For those of you just tuning in, my Wicked Problem Project was answering the question:

How can teachers and students both be motivated to effectively utilize technology to enhance instruction and the classroom experience?

I created a survey to collect some of my own data, spent a few hours researching, received some feedback from peers and colleagues and have finally come to my solution.

In order to motivate students to effectively use technology, we must first motivate teachers. To do this, leaders must introduce the TPACK framework, provide choices and time, as well as opportunities to collaborate with colleagues. Teachers voiced these needs in order to buy-in to change and professional development.

Throughout this process I took notes, reflected and analyzed my findings about motivation in teachers specifically around learning new approaches (i.e. technology-integration). Below you can explore my final Wicked Problem Project. This Blendspace by Tes includes images of the data and explanations concluding my survey, links to Ted Talks (normally there is a YouTube feature directly linking videos, however, it is under construction at the moment so you will have to copy and paste the link if you're interested in watching it, too), PDFs of the peer-reviewed journal articles I read, and a podcast discussing the alignment and push for TPACK in my solution.

What a collection, right? Now that you have a better understanding of my actionable next steps toward solving this wicked problem, what are your thoughts? Does the TPACK framework present itself as a strong guide to gaining teacher buy-in and motivation toward technology-integration? With a large toolbox, some time, and plenty of examples, I think my fellow leaders and I can solve this Wicked Problem.
