Ed Tech
Women in STEM
Innovation

Throughout my journey in education, I've realized there have been 3 constant values and themes in the decisions I make, the passions I pursue, and the connections I create:

Educational Technology, Women in S(cience) T(echnology) E(ngineering) M(ath), and Innovation

The first week of each class I teach, I ask students to create an About Me slide on a class Slide Deck. Here is where students can share their preferred name, pronouns, passions, values, and the important parts of their lives they'd like me to know. In return, they have the opportunity to ask me questions About Me, here are a few.

"Why did you move to Colorado?"

After growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, then going to college in Indiana, I decided my next mission was to explore Colorado. I knew one person and decided to put myself out there and give it a try. I've lived here for about 6 years now and can't imagine living anywhere else!

"What would you want to be if you weren't a teacher?"

If you asked me when I was a kid, I would have told you a mermaid or a therapist.

"Did you play sports in high school?"

I was a competitive cheerleader (so, yes!) as well as on the dance team at my high school. In college, I was on the D1 Women's Rowing Team., which I think is pretty cool, too.

"Are you a cat or dog person? And, why?"

I am the proud owner of a doodle-mix ("Bear"), so I have to choose dog person.

"Do you want the Chiefs or Eagles to win?"

Since the Chicago Bears weren't an option, and the Chiefs won a few years ago, I definitely wanted to Eagles to win. There's just something about rooting for the underdog!

"Where's the coolest place you've been?"

That's a tough one, but I'd have to say New Zealand. I am in awe of the beauty, kindness, and culture within the Kiwi community. I am so grateful to have been able to teach, explore, and immerse myself in New Zealand throughout my stay.

"What kind of music do you listen to?"

I truly enjoy a variety of music! However, my playlists seem to be filled mostly with country, broadway, and Today's Top Hits (along with some songs from Spotify's New Music Friday playlist)!

"What do you do on the weekends?"

I enjoy hiking with my dog, exploring new coffee shops with friends, going to church, listening to good music, getting outside to enjoy the sunshine, and catching an Avalanche or Rockies game!
