Developing this checklist was harder than it seems. I continued to struggle wording my evidence for understanding as it was meant to also be used as a checklist, too. After
rereading my questions and previous ideas for evidence, I began to understand my biggest issue: I'm too wordy; I need to be more straight to the point and specific with my evidence.
Here are my final questions I plan to use evaluating my previous, current, and as I develop future assessments:
Does this assessment measure genuine student understanding?
Does this assessment allow for teachers to provide constructive feedback to students?
Does this assessment inform instruction?
Does this assessment offer (an) opportunity for students to learn from each other?
Is this an equitable assessment for learning?
This third draft of my Assessment Design Checklist made me realize the importance of writing clear and concise directions, questions, and examples. I am proud of the productive struggle it took to complete my questions and evidence for understanding. I am confident my current and future assessments will become more effective informing instruction, equitable, and encouraging purposeful feedback. #CEP813 #MAET
